As the world was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was critical to develop laboratory assays to help understand innate immunity and support vaccine design and
testing.
The presence of neutralizing antibodies is thought to be associated with protection from infectious diseases, but other functions of antibodies are also associated with protection from agruation.
In this seminar, we will explain the challenges of developing and performing antibody-dependent complement deposition assays using magnetic beads on the iQue platform, and demonstrate the usefulness of measuring functional immunity in convalescence and vaccine samples.
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a viral disease caused by the FMD virus (FMDV) that has a major impact on livestock with cloves.

Vaccine protection is almost correlated with antibody titers. However, this relationship is not absolute, and the role played by antibody abidity is increasingly important. In this way, clarifying the binding power of antibodies is important in vaccine development. Here, we clarified the abidity of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to the surface of FMDV particles using biolayer interferometance methods. Importantly, similar peptides mimic receptor-binding loops, recombinantly expressed viral-like particles (VLP) are used to display the entire epitopoplannedscape of the virus to reflect the complete repertoire of antibody virus binding.
